About us
We, the Civic Liberal Party, believe that every citizen of this country deserves the opportunity to express his or her opinions freely. Our aim is to represent your voice. We strive to provide an inclusive society for our people; in terms of marriage and gender equality, and regardless of age and demographic. Fundamental civil rights like housing will also be sufficiently allocated to all citizens. Regardless of unique backgrounds or disabilities, everyone should be granted fair citizen rights and opportunities.
Issues
Every individual should have the right to marry regardless of sexual orientation, absence of which is a denial of civil rights. In the 21st century, our minds should definitely be less narrow, and be more liberal and receptive towards prevailing social issues.
While there has been improvements made with regard to the women rights, an approximate 18 percent difference in pay between the genders is a starling amount, taking into account that it has been unchanged for the 10 years. Progress has to be made equally by adequately rewarding all contributing parties, male and female alike.
Housing should be made accessible and affordable to all citizens as it is a fundamental human right. Fair housing policies will be aimed at providing equal opportunities to all citizens to obtain their own properties at nominal rates. Additional welfare benefits and waivers would be provided for the less-privileged. On top of that, relevant grants will be given to singles, and the age limit for them to own a house should be lowered.
We support the provision of welfare to the vulnerable, to ensure they have an equal opportunity for a proper and comfortable life. People who are underprivileged should be provided with relevant subsidies and funds, to ensure that their basic needs and standards of healthcare are adequately taken care of. The rapidly aging population is another crucial issue that should not be overlooked. We look to bring about substantial structural changes that would improve the everyday lives of the elderly, starting from the accessibility of public spaces, to risk-reducing measures in their own living spaces.
Singapore is known to have one of the most prestigious and competitive education system in the world. All citizens should have access to quality education, regardless of the academic track taken in by the individual. Furthermore, education should revolve around a holistic, hands-on learning experience. Lifelong learning would also be encouraged, with the necessary educational institutions scheduled to be developed, to cater to the growing needs of keen elderly learners. The focus of education should never be about grades, but on the experiences and passion that students develop through learning. We believe that learning should be a process to be enjoyed, not forced.
